ABOUT US

Water's Edge has spectacular views over the sea and towards Culloden with private access to a small beach at the bottom of the garden. Just 20 minutes drive away from Inverness, enjoy the city while staying in a beautiful Scottish village setting by the sea.  Since we moved here in November 2006 we have been transforming this lovely house into a spectacular place to live. We have created  three large completely new guest bedrooms and sparkling new  bathrooms, each en suite bedroom is individual in character and filled with all things special for you to enjoy. French doors open onto a  large  terrace with spectacular views over  the sea. Relax in our beautiful  sitting room French doors lead to a courtyard and two more windows look out over  the sea. During  the past months we have been working hard, our many hours of hard work have been rewarded and we are delighted to have achieved our 5 STAR Visit Scotland  award  for an exceptional standard, which we had at our home Millwood House in Inverness before moving here. We had a  few trials and tribulations along the way, but everyone's  hard work means we have the most beautiful home to which we welcome guests from all over the world to share with us. Staying here, even the city life can be fully enjoyed. Fortrose is a beautiful scenic Scottish highland fishing  village,  just twenty  minutes scenic drive from Inverness, which you can see over the water from the house. There are two excellent restaurants just a few  minutes walk from the house along with a traditional pub, coffee shop and all the usual village shops. November saw the opening in the village of  a chocolate shop selling the most delicious home made Belgian Chocolates  and just a few doors away  a quality antique shop selling treasures of times gone by.

From the terraces of our beautiful gardens there are frequent sightings of dolphins, seals  and a family of sea otters live just down the coast. Sometimes  they  can be seen  in the water at the bottom of the garden the most exciting of all things, we see them take a walk on our lawn and  roll over and over on the grass, such  a privilege to see and  such a very special sight  in our garden. Numerous sea birds and mallard ducks abound in the water's around us. The Fortrose yacht club is based close to the harbour which is less than  one minutes walk along the beach from the garden and it is an idyllic sight to see the yachts sailing. If you enjoy fishing we always will have a spare rod for you to cast a line or two from the bottom of the garden at high tide. The summer time will bring warmer water,  for you to enjoy a swim in the clear waters of the Moray Firth from the bottom of the garden. It is a little cold, but I have to say having enjoyed swimming myself many times on warm sunny days it really is wonderful experience.

We have a laptop computer for sole us for our guests with access to broadband using a wireless access point or LAN connection with your own laptop.

The airport is 35 Minutes from Fortrose, there is an airport bus runs every 30 minutes into Inverness city centre to coincide with all flights at the airport. Taxis are always available just outside the entrance. There is an excellent bus service to and from Fortrose to Inverness every half hour from early morning until late.

We hope you will consider coming to stay here with us at Water's Edge, we feel sure you will love it as much as we do and our welcome will be warm of that you can be assured.
