From Fort William & West coast
To get to Water's Edge - head for Inverness along the main A82 trunk road
passing through the village of Drumnadrochit on the shores of Loch Ness and
on to Inverness enjoying the spectacular scenery along the way.
When you enter Inverness city keep going on the A82 towards the town centre,
do not turn off left or right at any traffic lights.
As you approach the river (which is very picturesque with Inverness Castle
standing up high on the hill by the river on your right), you will come to a
set of traffic lights, go straight on over the bridge but keep in the left
hand lane and as you reach the end of the bridge turn left alongside the
river, keep going until you reach some traffic lights where must again turn
left.
Proceed until you reach a roundabout (this time keeping in the right hand
lane). At the roundabout you need to turn right so leave the roundabout by
the last exit on the left.
Continue to the next roundabout and go straight ahead passing over a railway
bridge and past Inverness College to the next roundabout. Again go straight
ahead and keep in the left hand lane proceeding to the next roundabout where
you have right of way to turn left to join the A9 over the Kessock Bridge -
again beautiful scenery of the Moray Firth.
Continue northwards along the A9 past the dolphin centre and a few minutes
after the sign on the left for North Kessock you need to take the exit on
the right signposted to Black Isle, Munlochy etc. on the B9161.
Continue, passing through the village of Munlochy up to the junction with
the A832.
Turn right (signed Fortrose & Rosemarkie) and continue until you reach the
little town of Fortrose.
As you pass the 30 mph speed limit sign continue along for approximately 300
yards and Water's Edge is on Canonbury Terrace on the right hand side
opposite some black railings with white tips between house number 9 and
house number 11. There is a ship's life belt on the gate post bearing the
house name 'Water's Edge' If you reach a turn-off to the right signed to the
Harbour and Yacht Club you have gone 100 yards too far! |
